Week 5
Welcome to Week 5!
Nurture your connections effectively
What
Welcome to the final step of Crabwalk’s 5-Week Program! You’re almost there! This week, we’ll be putting the whole framework together and setting you up for success for life beyond Crabwalk. Specifically, you’ll be creating routines that effortlessly fit into your life (no awkward coffee dates needed unless that’s your thing) so you can nurture the individuals on your roster and ask them for help when you need it!
Why?
Now that you have a roster full of great people from your past and present life, we want to make sure you’re keeping them warm. For one, it feels great to be connected to others, to help them achieve their goals, and for them to help you achieve theirs. For another, you’re far more likely to get the help you need if you’ve been supportive and genuinely engaged with the people you already know.
Tips + Tricks
Ideas for nurturing
Here are touch points you can use that don’t require being in person. These are great for everyone, but especially for Roster members who have limited time to socialize or live in a different city than you!
Mail to celebrate annual occurrences (via hand written cards or emails) around :
Holidays
Birthdays
Work anniversary
Mass mail announcements because you:
Started a new job
Got promoted
Had a life event - got married, had a child
Change of address - work or personal
New business card
1 on 1 thinking of you emails:
Share an article that you think is useful
Invite them to an event that you're going to
Send something relevant to them that made you think of them
Just saying hi
Ways to nurture more than one Roster member at once:
Organize an event - happy hour, group activity
Invite them to an existing event - your company holiday party, a work event that you're hosting
Attend an industry event (conference, party, meet-up, etc) that you know multiple members of your Roster will be attending
1 on 1 and in person:
Coffee
Lunch
Drinks
Dinner
Do an activity together (exercise class, summer concert in the park, museum)
